Resentment

Resentment is a complex and toxic emotional cocktail of suppressed and unresolved feelings of having been wronged. It is mixed with indignation, disappointment, anger, regret and fear usually for the way we perceive that we were treated by another. It can also be directed towards ourselves for how we reacted, responded or failed to act or respond in a given situation.
Resentment is a filter with a bitter flavor that taints all of our life including our relationships and the relationship with our self and our body.
Oftentimes we think that we have worked through our feelings and have healed our wounds. We think that it doesn’t bother us anymore. We are surprised to find it within us when someone or something suddenly triggers us out of the blue and we watch old emotions simmer up from beneath the surface only to watch it all explode once again. Eckhardt Tolle refers to this as triggering our Pain Body in his book “The New Earth.”
If we are running an undercurrent of unresolved resentment, we are also attracting similar frequencies to us to match and experience all over again. When left to fester on its own, resentment can and has been linked to the emotions underlying serious illness and disease like cancer.
